888 Sport Deposit Bonus

All sportsbooks offer people an incentive to sign up. This usually works by multiplying the first deposit you make. For example, if you were to sign up with a sportsbook and deposit $100, they might double your investment.

The incentive offered by 888 Sport is a little different. Rather than increasing your initial input by a set percentage, they triple the odds of your first wager. If you were to make a wager that earns $5, you would receive $15 instead.

At a glance, the bonus is middling. Especially since the maximum bet is $10, you have to place a risky wager in order to collect big.

There is an upside, though, which is the absence of a play-through clause. When other sportsbooks offer to double your deposit, they require that you play-through your bonus before you are able to withdraw the money. In some cases, you might have to wager a total of $800 before being able to get your hands on your bonus.

While the 888 Sport offer is a little less dazzling, it’s a good option for new bettors who only want to give it a shot without committing themselves. They also throw in $5 for their casino.

To take advantage of this bonus, click the banner below and place your first bet.

The offer is available to first-time players only. If you’ve already been an 888 Sport member for a year, it’s off the table. In fact, the offer expires a lot quicker than that. Specifically, you have seven days to place your bet. If you wait more than a week, wave bye-bye to your opportunity.

Minimum and Maximum Wagers

The minimum wager is $5. The maximum wager is $10. The first bet you place within those parameters is the bet that qualifies for the bonus.

Because the limits are quite restrictive, you can follow one of two schools of thought when placing this bet. You can either bet on a sure-thing and pad your bankroll a little, or go big with a longshot. If you put together a $10 ticket with odds of 10/1, suddenly you’re looking at a 30/1 payout.

Play-through clause

As mentioned above, the absence of a play-through clause is one of this bonus’ most attractive features. However, the offer is not entirely free of strings.

Rather than pay out in cash, the extra winnings come as “free bets.” To explain, let’s use the following example:

You bet $10 on a winning result that pays 5/1. With the bonus, the odds triple to 15/1. Your return is $50 ($10 x 5) + $100 in free bets (two thirds of $10 x 15).

The bonus portion of the bet therefore require a 100 percent play-through. Because it is deposited to your account as a free bet, you have to use it to place a wager. The winnings from that free bet can be withdrawn.

Betting Lines and Odds

888 Sport carries an obvious British influence, with soccer and cricket lines prominently displayed. But while you might be concerned that the focus comes at a cost of serving North American bettors, 888 Sport is actually well-rounded.

All the major sports leagues are available for betting, as well as individual sports. And in terms of betting lines that Canadians in particular may care about, 888 Sport offers OHL, WHL and AHL lines.

The offerings are pretty extensive on the whole, so while 888 Sport might look specialized for a U.K. audience, it’s actually fully accessible for Canadians.

888 Sport offers users some of the better odds out there. This manifests in a consistently generous standard spread line of 1.92. Many sportsbooks offer the spread at 1.90. The extra two cents on the dollar can really add up, particularly for people that make frequent and/or large wagers.

The money line odds offered by 888 Sport are less impressive, but they remain competitive. As with most sportsbooks, you’ll sometimes find bargains, but other times track down a better deal from someone else.

On the whole, the 1.92 odds on spreads is too good to rate 888 Sport’s odds as anything less than terrific. If you are a regular bettor and like to play football and basketball spreads – baseball and hockey tend to offer fewer even lines – you’d be hard pressed to find a sportsbook better tailored to meet your needs.

In-Play Betting

In-Play betting, in which bettors place wagers on underway events, is available on 888 Sport. Keeping in consistency with the pre-game offerings made by 888 Sport, the in-play lines are quite extensive and diverse.

The quality of lines offered is obviously important to providing a strong in-play betting experience, but the other major component is offering betting options efficiently. In-Play odds adjust based on the flow of an event, so it matters how quickly the sportsbook can make updates and process wagers.

888 Sport isn’t bad getting their lines up quickly, but the site itself isn’t too speedy. This can occasionally lead to the frustrating situation where you place a bet that isn’t processed before a score or possession change, which then in turn results in your wager being denied because of a shift in the odds. It’s not an epidemic or anything like that, but it happens.

Non-Sports Betting Options

888 Sport is a part of a collection of gaming offers. Each service is hosted within a unique domain, but you can navigate to any one from anywhere. For example, you could be on the poker domain and navigate easily to the sportsbook.

The full non-sports roster of gaming options from 888 include:

  • Poker
  • Casino
  • Live Casino
  • Ladies

Now, you’re probably wondering what 888 Ladies is. It’s weird. It seems to house slots and bingo and be frought with pink graphics. We’re not sure why it isn’t called 888 Bingo, since there seems to be no gender restrictions for signing up, but there you have it.

Aesthetics and Functionality

888 Sport is laid out with a left-hand sidebar displaying the sports available to bet on, then opens up to display specific lines in the center of the screen. When you select a line a window pops up, allowing you to place your wager.

The new window is a little unorthodox, but if you are unsettled by it, you can simply choose to pin the window to the right side of the screen. When this option is selected, the chosen lines display as they do for most sportsbooks. The writer of this review isn’t enamoured with the pop up window, but it’s always nice to have options.

From a navigation standpoint, 888 Sport is easy to get around. It uses an industry-standard layout, which feels intuitive to anyone who has bet online before.

Aesthetically, the site looks pretty nice. The contrasting orange and black menus make the inner gray displays pop. It’s obviously not the most crucial part of a sportsbook, but 888 does look good.

The sole downside to the functionality of 888 Sports is the site speed. Many sportsbooks suffer from poor site speed as a result of the scripts necessary to present constantly changing lines and odds, but 888 Sport’s Google PageSpeed Insights score of 48 is bad, even by industry standards. The problem isn’t debilitating, but can lead to frustration on occasion.

Mobile Quality

888 Sport offers mobile users two options. First, you have the mobile site, which is a barebones version of the full site. It functions similarly, but is tailored for a smaller screen and streamlined experience.

The alternative option is the betting app. This is similar to the mobile site, but even more streamlined. Given that that the site scores 51 when subjected to Google’s mobile speed test, the app is recommended. Poor site load times are emphasized on mobile, so whereas the desktop version doesn’t suffer too dramatically from slow load times, the issue is more exposed on mobile. The app helps to combat the issues to a certain extent.

The point is, if you want to get money onto 888 Sport, it’s unlikely to be a problem. Most sportsbooks make it pretty easy, but 888 Sport offers one of the most exhaustive lists there is.

The minimum deposit for most deposit methods is $10. For direct bank transfers, it’s $100.

Loyalty and Existing Client Promotions

888 Sport runs a lot of promotions for existing customers. Most of them follow the formula of placing a specific type of bet to gain an odds advantage, refund or free bet. For example, at the beginning of the 2017 Australian Open tennis tournament, 888 Sport gave bettors a free wager of $5 when they placed a bet of $30 or more at 1.5 odds or higher on the tournament's outcome, or a specific match.

While some of the promotions are decent, most are not worth going out of your way for. Sometimes, though, you will find a promotion that coincides with a bet you were already going to make (say, on the Superbowl), which is always a nice surprise.

888 Sport also has a VIP class of promotions. They look pretty solid, but the terms for becoming a VIP are not immediately obvious.

Customer Service

The 888 Sport customer service team does an adequate job of handling most queries. Navigating to the help section is not as straightforward as most site's make it, so that's a demerit.

The options for contacting the 888 Sport customer service team include phone and email. There is lso an FAQ that attempts to anticipate common queries.

Canadian Sports Coverage

There isn’t anything inherently Canadian about 888 Sport (except maybe the presence of Georges St. Pierre in some ads), but you’ll find some lines that not all sportsbooks offer. Junior hockey, for example, is fairly well represented. The AHL is there, too, and the CFL is present as well.

We wouldn't call Canadian content a strength of 888 Sport, but it's just as good as most other sportsbooks.
